about the artist
A combination of self-teaching, formal studies and numerous painting workshops, have coalesced into Tom McCobb's vibrant. loose painting style for which he is so well known. The rugged topography of the Maine coast, the passing rural character of his native Connecticut, and the vastness, and subtle colors of the Southwest are his favorite subjects. Still life and florals occupy his efforts when weather confines him to studio.
Mr. McCobb has instructed painting classes for over 25 years; in his studio in Pomfret, Connecticut and around the United States in New York, Connecticut, Maine, Arizona and California. His works appear in the instructive publications "Color and Light for the Watercolor Painter" by Christopher Schink (Watson Guptill 1995) and "Acrylic School" by Hazel Harrison (Reader's Digest 1997.) His paintings appear in in several International collections and are included in many private collections in the United States.
Mr. McCobb is currently represented by the Wiscasset Bay Gallery in Wiscasset, ME (www.wiscassetbaygallery.com), and the Judith Leighton Gallery, Blue Hill, ME (www.judithleightongallery.com).
